SHERBURN: Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Pauline “Pat” Steele, 83, of Sherburn, Minnesota will be 10:30 am., Monday, March 15, 2010 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn with Father Peter Schuster as Celebrant and Father Charles Quinn and Con-Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery in Sherburn at a later date.
Pat died on Thursday morning, March 11, 2010 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn and one hour prior to the services at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in the Parish Center. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Messages of Sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com
Pauline Christine Studer was born June 15, 1926 to Herman and Agnes (Liebfried) Studer in Sherburn, Minnesota. She attended District #56 country school and later Sherburn-Dunnell High School. Pat later moved to Minneapolis. On February 19, 1955 she was united in marriage to Avon Steele at Minneapolis, Minnesota. After their marriage, they moved to Pensacola Beach, Florida in 1958. Pat was employed as a school bus driver at St. Anne’s Catholic School in Gulf Breeze, Florida. They later moved to Fridley, Minnesota and in 1978 they moved to Sherburn where they spent the summers and winter in Florida. Avon died on January 16, 1991. In July of 1992, she was united in marriage to Gifford “Mac” McAfee on a cruise ship off the coast of Florida near Miami. They made their home in Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Beach, Florida until moving back to Sherburn in 1996. Pat was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Sherburn, it’s CCW. She was a charter member of the Red Hat Society, member of the Pensacola Elk’s Lodge No. 2256 for many years, the Sweet Adelines Singing Group, 500 Club, Sherburn V.F.W. Post #8261 Auxiliary. She greatly enjoyed visiting, singing and listening to music.
Pat is survived by her husband, Mac McAfee of Sherburn, Minnesota; grandson, Jimmy Gothard of Fairmont, Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Kristin and Jacob Gothard; brothers, Robert Studer of Welcome, Minnesota; Melvin “Duke” Studer of Columbia Heights, Minnesota; Jack (Rita) Studer of Albert Lea, Minnesota; Mike Studer of Minnetonka, Minnesota; sisters, Doris Zehms of rural Sherburn, Minnesota, Mary Lou Adams of Westerville, Ohio; Lois (Harry) Mernin of Fridley, Minnesota; Shirley (Roland) Hanson of Mankato, Minnesota; Susan (Robert) Nagel of Manheim, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Kathy Studer of Sherburn, Minnesota; and other relatives and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Avon Steele; daughter, Gloria Gothard; brothers, David Studer, James Studer; sister, Corrine Langford; brothers-in-law, Bill Zehms, Jim Adams; sister-in-law, Erma Studer; niece, Kay Krumwiede; nephew, Bobby Studer and other relatives.
